About Me

Hello!  I'm Debra Welsh, a qualified Counsellor based in Somerset, UK, specialising in supporting neurodivergent individuals.  My journey into therapy is deeply personal; as a neurodivergent person myself and a parent to autistic children, I have firsthand experience of the unique challenges and strengths that come with neurodiversity.

In addition to my personal insights, I hold a postgraduate qualification in autism, which has equipped me with a deeper understanding of the complexities associated with these diverse neurotypes.  This knowledge drives my commitment to creating a safe and compassionate space where you can explore your feelings without judgment.

My approach to therapy is warm, relatable, and grounded in empathy.  I offer a free consultation to see if I am the right fit for you, but you’re also welcome to book a session directly if you feel ready to start.  I look forward to working together and supporting you on your journey.

This is a space dedicated to you. Our work together focuses entirely on your needs, ensuring that you feel heard, understood, and empowered on your journey. I'm here to walk alongside you as you navigate your experiences, and together, we can work towards meaningful change.

Hypnotherapy

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a common and natural state of mind, and most people spend a lot of time in hypnosis or a trance state during the day without even realising it. As an example, when you are fully engrossed in a book or a film, or have driven to work and cannot remember part of your journey, these are all examples of you being in a natural state of hypnosis.

Hypnotherapists use it as a way of making contact with a person’s unconscious mind in order to bring about some form of change or healing. While under hypnosis you are fully aware and in control but in a very focused and relaxed state.

Hypnosis can be used to help treat a huge range of problems and issues such as: pain relief, weight control, insomnia, anxiety and panic attacks, phobias, performance, exam and sporting nerves, quitting smoking, childbirth and so much more besides.

When fully relaxed and under hypnosis, I will give you suggestions which are received by your subconscious mind which will replace current undesirable thought and behaviours. Hypnotherapy is natural and safe and has no harmful side effects.
